Translectric’s History
Translectric, Inc. was established by Ray Mirly in June,
1967 when he copyrighted the
device called the “Service Mate. This device was able to provide AC
electrical power for motor driven tools from a car battery.
Translectric originally was set up in the basement of his
home in Cape Girardeau, Mo.
At first, the only product, the P-12 Service-Mate, was only
sold directly to farmers and
then to farm equipment dealers for resale. Eventually sales
migrated toward construction equipment dealers for resale.
During the early 1970’s, new safety laws were introduced
which included requirements for back-up alarms on heavy equipment. Translectric began
selling backup alarms and other safety related items.
In 1986, Ray Mirly sold
Translectric to his children. Again,
they increased the product line to include lighting products, tools, strobe lights,
switches, gauges, etc.
1989 saw the introduction of Translectric’s first Product
Guide. It was only 16 pages of newsprint with one item per page. Today's Product Guide
contains 71 pages of full color with information squeezed into each page.
In 2005, Translectric again changed ownership. Since that date the product line has increased yet again. New systems were put in place to better serve the customer. These include new business software to better track, and process
orders, and Translectricinc.com the e-store you are currently on.
Though the company has changed hands a couple of times,
Translectric’s commitment to the customer will always stay the same.
